Stamping on Cindy

Hi guys!

I have a special guest today. Meet Cindy, she's behind all the pretty manis you see here. She finally has the spotlight on her because she gets very neglected.

This week's prompt for #twinsietuesdaynailart on Instagram hosted by @99probsbutmynailsaint1 is to show Cindy (the hand that does all the work and never gets any love). 

Mine is pretty rough. My nails are always breaking so they're shorter than on my left hand and sadly they're peeling. My clean up still needs some work too. And can I just say how hard it is to pose and photograph this hand is!

Pet'la plate Romance

For this look I was inspired by a wallpaper found on Pinterest (pictured below). It reminded me of a Pet'la plate I have, Romance. 

I did a black base of Salon Perfect Oil Slick then stamped with MPolish Pish Plashin' Around and Dancing in the Streets. Topped it off with Seche Vite top coat.

Day of the Dead stamped sugar skulls

Day of the Dead is getting closer and I wanted to do some nail art for it. The collection by Envy Lacquer the Sugar Skull collection was perfect for this look. The Sugar Skull collection is available now at envylacquer.com.

I used these two images from Pet'la plate Calaveras. They're my favorite images from that plate.

Since the images are large and don't fit my nails right I shrunk the images using a tutorial by nailstamp4fun. I shrunk them and stamped them onto my pink DRK nails mat pictured below. I had to buy the pink one because pink! I think I might be getting a clear one as well.

I applied some top coat to the mat first. I stamped several images in case some didn't turn out, but I ended up using all four. I then filled in all the tiny flowers with several polishes from Envy Lacquer using a small dotting tool. Then I top coated the decal. I'm not sure if that's what you do, but that's what I did. I waited a couple minutes for the decals to dry. Once they were dry I painted a base of Illuminacion (white) from Envy Lacquer and waited for it to be a bit dry. I peeled off one of the decals and trimmed the sides a bit. Applied it to my nail and with a brush dipped in acetone I started melting the excess off. Once done I applied a generous amount of seche vite top coat.

I repeated this on the next three nails. On the remaining nails I used Golletes by Envy. I really love the way these turned out. You see the images very well. I actually wore this for several days. I preferred the matte version though.

Below is a mani I did with out shrinking the images and you can see how the images are too large for my nails. I tried tilting the image on my middle finger so the face would show up a bit better.

Gold stamping over Sinful Colors Hot Chili

At first I didn't like this polish that much but after wearing it for a few days it kind of grew on me. It chipped so I took it off only to paint my nails with this same polish again lol. 

I give you Sinful Colors Hot Chili!!

This is two coats plus a generous amount of Seche Vite top coat. It looks bumpy on the nail but it's not. I think it's because the base isn't a cream but more of a metallic type finish. I love the glitter in it.

It has small gold holo hex glitter and some micro glitter in it. Those shots were taken in direct sunlight.

I stamped over it with M Polish Guilded from the Metallics Collection using an image from Pet'la Plate Golden Russian.

Sinful Colors is one of the mainstream brands I enjoy using. They're inexpensive and their formulas are usually really good. If you have Walgreens around you they usually have sales and you can get Sinful Colors for .99!

Pet'la plate vs fake Pet'la plate

Pet'la Plate and it's creator Petra are located in Hungary. Pet'la plates are designed and handmade by Petra and her team. Pet'la plates are made from copper so they're a bit thick and heavier than your normal stamping plate.

Today I'm comparing a Pet'la plate Tu-Turkey-Key and a wannabe fake plate BCN-003. There were two fake Pet'las being sold on some sites. This one and the other was Golden Russian. Golden Russian was found on Bornprettystore as BCN-006 but has since been pulled from their site. It was also found on aliexpress.com and alibaba.com but I wasn't able to find either of these two plates on their site. I'm sure they might still be out there.

The fakes come with a blue film over them.

Real Pet'la plates are beautifully etched and made from copper. The fake plate is stainless steel, very thin and you can barely feel the etching. The fakes even come with Pet'las signature.

I'm not an expert stamper at all and I did my best to do everything the same for both plates. I used MPolish Cayuga for stamping and my go to stamper I bought a year ago, I used a credit card for scraping and I rolled the stamper to pick up the images. I cleaned my stamper with a lint roller after each stamp. So let's get started.

As you can see the middle image isn't even the same here.

The images on the real Pet'la plate picked up very well. They're darker and cleaner. I noticed that the images on the fake are a tiny bit smaller, the lines aren't as clean and they're much lighter.

Getting the real thing is so worth it! The quality of Petra's plates is fantastic! I bought a couple of her plates in group buy a couple months ago and I've used them a lot. I recently placed another order with another friend and I can't wait to get those.
