Frances Five holiday collection by Empressmm swatch & review

I have a new collection from Empress by Mya Michele to show you today. The Frances Five holiday collection. This collection consists of five polishes; Hot Cocoa, Shimmery Candy Cane, Golden Carols, By the Fireplace and Midnight Kiss. These polishes are meant to be worn over a black base or similar dark colored base to make the color stand out more.

Let's get started.

Frances Five collection

Hot Cocoa:

Hot Cocoa has brown and gold shimmer through out. Swatch shows two thin coats over a black base.

By the Fireplace:
By the Fireplace

By the Fireplace macro

By the Fireplace has brown, gold and some shifty micro shimmer throughout. Swatch shows two thin coats over a black base.

Midnight Kiss:
Midnight Kiss

Midnight Kiss macro

Midnight Kiss is a darkened green with black undertones. Swatch shows two thin coats over a black base.

Golden Carols:
Golden Carols

Golden Carols macro

Golden Carols is a golden shimmery polish. Swatch shows two thin coats over a black base. I'm sure this one could be sponged on to make it opaque. Would also look great over red or green.

Shimmery Candy Cane:

Shimmery Candy Cane is a pink shimmery polish with pink scattered pink micro glitter. Swatch shows two thin coats over a similar base.

It's a beautiful collection and the only downside is that they have to be used over a dark base. I'm sure some people don't mind doing that. They could be used on their own if you don't mind visible nail line. I think they would be great for pond manis and stampwhiches too. I'll have to do some looks with these soon.

What do you guys think of this collection?

The Frances Five holiday collection will be available at empressbymm.com for $4 each (15ml). They are discounted for the reason that they need to be layered.

Thank you for reading and happy painting :)

**Press Sample. Collection provided free of charge in exchange for swatches and review. All opinions are my own**

Hey lovelies!

Today I have swatches from a new indie polish brand that just launched on the 1st of this month. Empress by Mya Michele. Empress by Mya Michele's first collection is called The Philadelphia Soul Collection and consists of 9 polishes: Eagle Grungy Green, Temple Tangerine, Erie Pink, Passyunk Purple, Huntigdon Valley Green, Frost & Fifth, Center City Cream, Cherry Cheesesteak, and Avenue of the Blues. I will show you swatches first and tell you what I think at the end.

The Philadelphia Soul Collection

Eagle Grungy Green:
Teal/green jelly polish with subtle gold shimmer throughout. 3 coats plus top coat. This one would've been fine with only 2 coats.

Macro:

Temple Tangerine:
Pink/orange jelly polish with subtle gold shimmer throughout. 3 coats plus top coat. This one was a bit more sheer. There's still VNL but it's a jelly so that's fine.

Macro:

Erie Pink:
Fuchsia jelly polish with gold shimmer thought. The gold shimmer is more visible in this polish. This is 3 coats plus top coat.

Macro:

Passyunk Purple:
Purple holo micro glitter topper in a clear base with extra shimmer. 2 coats over a black base.

Macro:

Huntigdon Valley Green:
Sheer frosty light green polish. 3 coats on its own plus top coat on index and middle finger. 2 coats over a black base on ring and pinky plus top coat. Gorgeous over black!

Macro Huntingdon Valley Green on its own:

Do you have any favorites in this collection?

Overall formulas on all were nice and dried quick.  I had issues with the jellies, the pigment seemed to be settling at the bottom, I mixed it with a toothpick and they were fine after. I let the owner know and she will be looking into that.
I love the colors in this collection. Some are unique to my collection like Avenue of the Blues, Huntingdon Valley Green and Frost & Fifth.
I had a great experience working with the owner Mya as I have had with all other indies I've worked with.

Learn more about the brand and the owner on their website in the About Us section.
