OPI Starlight Collection 6 piece set swatch & review

**press sample**

Hey lovelies!

Today I have six polishes from the OPI Starlight Collection. The full OPI Starlight Collection consits of 18 shades. The set I received includes Cosmo with a Twist, Center of the You-niverse, I'm in the Moon for Love, Press * for Silver, By the Light of the Moon, and Infrared-y to Glow.

Let's get started!

OPI Starlight

OPI Starlight collection
Cosmo with a Twist
First up we have Cosmo with a Twist swatch shows two coats plus top coat. This shade has subtle blue and purple shimmer throughout in a navy colored base. Formula was smooth and is easy to apply. I didn't have any staining issues with it. The shimmer really liked to stick around after removal. I really love this one!

Center of the You-niverse
Center of the You-niverse swatch shows two coats plus top coat. Formula was smooth and easy to apply. This polish has matte hex glitters in different sizes and silver shimmer throughout in a blackened base. The hex glitters are tough to see in photos but they're in there and they like to stick around after removal too. I like this shade because it's a bit different than what I'm used to. Might not be everyones cup of tea though.

I'm in the Moon for Love

I'm in the moon for Love, swatch shows two coats plus top coat. This is an eggplant colored shade with shimmer throughout. Photo taken under direct daylight bulbs to show the shimmer. Formula was a bit runny and kind of flooded my cuticles. Might have been a me problem though. I didn't have any staining issues. I love this shade!

Press * for Silver
Press * for Silver, swatch shows two coats plus top coat. Formula was ok. This has some bronze like shimmer throughout that can be seen in the macro. The name has silver in it but this doesn't look silver to me.
Honestly I wasn't impressed with this one.

By the Light of the Moon
By the Light of the Moon, swatch shows two coats plus two coats of top coat. Ok this one is interesting. It has silver hex glitters in different sizes in a metallic base.  It seems like the sister of Pineapples Have Peelings Too and Baroque but Still Shopping. I don't know why OPI has been doing these types of polishes. I know some people like them. I don''t know how I feel about them. Not even two coats of top coat helped to make it look smooth.

Infrared-y to Glow over Press * for Silver
Infrared-y to Glow, swatch shows two brushed on coats over Press * for Sliver. This is an interesting glitter topper. The shapes seem to be shaped like boomerangs or something. I've never seen this type of glitter before. I love the small holo hex glitter and wished it had more of that.

And there you have them! Six shades from the OPI Starlight Collection. I really only like three of the six but I'm going to try and use them all in different looks. I already did a couple looks featuring some of these shades and you'll be seeing them soon on my Instagram page. What do you guys think of these shades? Let me know in the comments below.

Day of the Dead stamped sugar skulls

Day of the Dead is getting closer and I wanted to do some nail art for it. The collection by Envy Lacquer the Sugar Skull collection was perfect for this look. The Sugar Skull collection is available now at envylacquer.com.

Keep reading to see how I created this look.

I used these two images from Pet'la plate Calaveras. They're my favorite images from that plate.

Pet'la Plate Calaveras

Since the images are large and don't fit my nails right I shrunk the images using a tutorial by nailstamp4fun. I shrunk them and stamped them onto my pink DRK nails mat pictured below. I had to buy the pink one because pink! I think I might be getting a clear one as well.

I applied some top coat to the mat first. I stamped several images in case some didn't turn out, but I ended up using all four. I then filled in all the tiny flowers with several polishes from Envy Lacquer using a small dotting tool. Then I top coated the decal. I'm not sure if that's what you do, but that's what I did. I waited a couple minutes for the decals to dry. Once they were dry I painted a base of Illuminacion (white) from Envy Lacquer and waited for it to be a bit dry. I peeled off one of the decals and trimmed the sides a bit. Applied it to my nail and with a brush dipped in acetone I started melting the excess off. Once done I applied a generous amount of seche vite top coat.

I repeated this on the next three nails. On the remaining nails I used Golletes by Envy. I really love the way these turned out. You see the images very well. I actually wore this for several days. I preferred the matte version though.

Below is a mani I did with out shrinking the images and you can see how the images are too large for my nails. I tried tilting the image on my middle finger so the face would show up a bit better.

I hope you guys enjoyed this look. Do you prefer matte or glossy? Have you ever tried to shrink an image for stamping?

Overall this collection is gorgeous. I've been all about matte lately. My favorite is definitely Sue! Formula wise they all apply pretty smooth. Aspen and Sue are more sheer than the rest but they're beautiful and surprisingly their formula was great as well. I had some trouble with Iris. She didn't seem to self level well for me at all and you can see some brush strokes in my swatch. I do intent to wear these with the matte velvet top coat so hopefully that won't be an issue. Iris is right in the middle of Harlow and Savita from last years collection regarding the color shade.

These all have the same pretty pearly micro-shimmer in them and I've seen them with top coat and that shimmer really pops. I did some quick stamping swatches and they all seem to stamp well too. The colors seemed to be lighter when stamped. So if you're asking if you need them, yes you do need them!

I cant't wait to rock these through the holidays! Are you guys in the holiday spirit yet? Which one is your favorite shade? Let me know what you think?

You can get the matte velvet holiday 2015 collection at zoya.com

Happy polishing :)
